Essex and East Anglia 2017
5.1.2017 , and still in Essex , just.
With my most recently snapped 59101 on the Chelmsford stone again today I thought it might be a good alternative to take my sore throat and cold off to Manningtree for some sea air instead.
90013 first up at 10.36hrs. 1P16 10.24 Colchester-Norwich.
Problems earlier meant the Lpl.St-Colchester bit was cancelled. After walking the mile or so back to the car at Cattawade and having chatted to a couple of folks I never imagined for a moment I would beat 66148 home , but having a reasonable journey on the A12 and arriving at Terling Road at 13.22hrs I thought I might wait to see whether it had been held at one of the loops on the way down.
Some drama on the line obviously as 2 x 90's and 5 units whizzed southwards but then at 14.00hrs I was finally rewarded with this second shot of 66148 on the same day. One thing it hadn't stopped for was a clean !
That's it for the next few days I think. I'll be nursing my germs at home.66727 Cattawade 18.1.2017 11.15hrs. 6P41 09.57 Harwich Carless Refinery-North Walsham GBRf.
Possibly my last picture from here as news released yesterday , 10th Feb 2017 ,of a new Train Maintenance Depot being constructed on the opposite side of the line from where I'm standing making access to the photo spot , already difficult , impossible.
I'm grateful for the shots I did get there.
22 Jan 2018...or possibly not ! Rather late in the day but seemingly discussions are now on-going about the suitability of the site for a depot. Watch this space.
( Mask...Hoping not , but that I'll still be able to access the location! ).Rather than a 59 working the Acton-Chelmsford aggregates and return empties today it was 66760 making an unusual appearance in the Park 20.1.2017 at 11.00hrs on 6Z80 10.54 Chelmsford Rec-Ferme Park Rec Ln GBRf .
Having learned what was running , I was expecting to see the traditional GBRf box wagons but was surprised instead to find this train comprised of newer wagons leased from ermewa ,a 100% fully owned subsidiary of French Railways SNCF.With early mist and 59005 on the stone I decided to go shopping instead.
Got out of the shop to find conditions had cleared and had I taken the camera I could have got round for a shot of the 59 after all.
Oh well ,not to be, so went home with the stuff.
Another " cop" down to work 4M23 today so as compensation decided to pop over to Terling Rd.for 3 Liners in 40 minutes before lunch.
The two FreightLiner operated trains had 5 and 10 empty flats respectively behind the locos so no shot attempted of those.
GBRf 66759 ,however , properly loaded, passes Terling Rd. 24.1.2017 12.27hrs., usual details.
Weather Guessers say no more sun in January ,but I've had such a good month I'm really quite satisfied.
See you in Feb.66722 " Sir Edward Watkin " to the Rescue.
Terling Rd. 7.3.2017 13.52hrs. 0Z30 10.20 Tonbridge West Yd GBRf-Colchester Dgi Fi.
Bogie wagon derailed yesterday at Shenfield so was removed to Colchester on a skip.
Obviously still having problems today as the return journey , booked 15.05 ex Colchester, did not run . Loco still at Colchester a.m. 8.3.2017.Georgina...Meaty,beaty,big,and bouncy, a lot going for her , but special thanks to her today for a totally accurate forecast. I've been waiting 99 days for such weather ,and it finally returned to The Fens only today, some 3 and a bit months since the 30th November , the last really good one.
66534 Beggars Bridge 9.3.2017 11.13hrs. 08.01 Felixstowe N FLT-Crewe BH SSN.RUBBISH !
While I was on the way home ,this train passed me,so I thought I would see whether I remembered the back doubles around the streets of March from over 30 years ago.
I did and found I had guessed right. Waiting for a unit to overtake, 66098 had been put inside at March Up Loop 13.3.2017 12.35hrs. 08.55 Mountsorrel Sdgs-Kennett Redland Sdgs..
